App privacy notice
Who we are and what this covers
Family Glide is an app for organizing family routines and activities. This notice covers the app. The waitlist notice on this website is separate. For any question, write to [email protected].
What we collect
Your adult account: you can sign in with Google, with Apple, or with an email address and password. With Google or Apple we identify your account only by an identifier the provider gives us; we don’t copy your email, name or picture. With email and password, the address is used only to send you a verification code and is not stored in readable form or in logs; your password is stored only as an irreversible hash. You can type a display name if you want one.
Your family: each child’s display name, avatar and preferences; activities and routines with their steps; activity history and routine step events; family members; and enrolled devices (name and status).
Photos and voice clips that you upload for a routine step or a card.
Crash reports: if the app breaks, we send a technical report to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider. It goes through our own server first, which passes it on without the device’s IP address or headers. Reports strip query strings, user data and breadcrumbs.
Our logs don’t include request contents, tokens, codes, IP addresses, emails or children’s data.
Photos and voice recordings
If you add a photo or record your voice for a routine step or a card, we store it so your child’s devices can show and play it. Photos are made smaller and stripped of all hidden details, including location, on your phone and again on our server. Recordings are short (about 10 seconds) and their hidden details are removed too. They are stored privately in DigitalOcean Spaces in New York, United States, and only your family’s members and devices can reach them, through links that expire within an hour. We never use them for anything else, never share them and never make them public. When you delete one, or delete your account, it is erased from our storage within a day and from your child’s devices at their next update. Backups do not include them.
The app asks for the microphone only on the screen where you record your voice, and for the camera only when you tap to take a photo.
Children and parental responsibility
Children use the app on an enrolled device, but they never sign in or create an account: an adult operates everything. To open Parent Mode on a child’s device, a family member has to sign in again at that moment.
You are responsible for the information you add about your children and for the photos and recordings you upload. Add only content you have the right to share.
How we use it
Only to make the app work: showing routines and activities on your family’s devices, syncing them, and keeping the account secure. We have no advertising and no tracking, we don’t build profiles for advertisers, and we don’t sell your information.
Who it is shared with
With the providers we need to run the service: DigitalOcean (hosting and storage of photos and recordings), Sentry (crash reports) and, if you sign in with email, the provider that sends the code. If you sign in with Google or Apple, those providers verify your identity. A crash report never includes your IP address.
How long we keep it
Step events and activity history are deleted after 12 months.
Copies of your data that you download (exports) are deleted 7 days after they are ready.
Encrypted backups are replaced within 30 days.
When you delete your account you have 7 days to undo it; after that, everything is erased for good.
Everything else is kept while your account exists.
Export and delete your data
In the app, go to Settings → Privacy and data to download a copy of your data or to delete your account and all data. You can also delete a child’s profile, a photo or a recording without deleting your account. More detail is on the Delete your account page (/delete-account).
Where it is stored
Information is stored on servers in the United States (New York region). By using the app, your information is processed there.
